A Timeline of the Mabini Art Movement: Framed at Art Fair Philippines 2016

At its fourth year, the country’s premier art fair, Art Fair Philippines showcased special exhibitions apart from the displays led by the galleries. Among these special exhibitions is Frame — a timeline of the Mabini art movement in relation to the lives of the artist-couple Alfredo and Isabel Aquilizan and the renowned Kapampangan painter Antonio Calma.

Mabini art movement is known as the period where artists, who are subscribed to the academic way of art-making, produce art for the primary purpose of financial sustenance. Know more about this movement through this review article on the Mabini art movement retrospective exhibition at the Cultural Center of the Philippines last 2014.
